Covid-18: Ethiopia Reports 1,509 More Cases, 25 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 1, 509 more Covid-19 cases and 25 related fatalities on Saturday, reports ministry of health.
The East African nation conducted a total of 9, 464 tests to find the latest positive cases in the past twenty-four, reveals the ministry’s Covid-19 report.
The national death toll has also reached 5, 115 after 25 patients died due to Covid-19 in the reported period.
Currently, there are 800 severely sick patients getting treatment in critical care units for Coronavirus, reveals the report, which puts the national active case tally at 28, 774.
It also reveals as many as 1, 760 patients have recovered from the acute respiratory disease in the day.
Ethiopia confirmed its first case on March 13, last year. Since then, it has confirmed 332, 003 infections after testing nearly 3.38 million people. About 298, 112 of the infected people have already recovered.
In terms of the vaccination drive, the country administered at least 6, 200 doses of Covid-19 vaccine in the last 24-hours.
The Ministry of health started inoculating its citizens on March 13, 2021 – a week after it received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
To date, the country has vaccinated more than 2.4 million people against the virus.
