Covid-19: Ethiopia Confirms 985 New Cases, 10 Fatalities
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 985 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and 10 related deaths on Wednesday,its Ministry of Health reports.
In its daily Covid-19 report, the Ministry said a total of 7,686 people have been tested in the past twenty-four hours to identify the positive cases.
The country has also registered 10 Covid-19 deaths in the reported period, pushing the national death toll to 4,505.
Currently, there are 448 severely sick Covid-19 patients receiving medical attention in hospitals, shows the report which puts the national confirmed active cases tally at 21, 216.
As many as 417 patients have recuperated from the disease on Wednesday, one of the highest the ministry has reported in August.
To date, Ethiopia has conducted more than 3.13 million tests to confirm 291,803 infections. About 266, 080 of the infected people have already recovered, reveals the ministry’s report.
The country has continued to push ahead with its immunization campaign on Wednesday during at least 5,837 people vaccinated against Covid-19. This has taken the number of doses, mostly AstraZeneca vaccines, offered to the public to more than 2.33 million, reports the ministry.
Ethiopia launched the vaccination campaign on March 13 – a week after they received 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
