Ethiopia Reports Zero Daily Covid-19 Deaths for 2nd Day in a Row

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported no additional deaths from Covid-19 on Sunday and Monday, according to data from the Ministry of health.

The national fatality toll remains 4, 343 in total with no deaths from the disease on Monday as it was in the previous 24 hours.

The total Covid-19 infections has increased 177, 137 with 65 new cases recorded over the past 24-hours, the ministry’s daily report for Monday shows.

At least 4, 358 people have been tested during the period to identify the new positive cases of the pneumonia-like infections.

There are now 121 critically ill patients nationwide, says the ministry that puts the confirmed active cases tally at 10, 770.

Only 33 people have managed to recuperate from the acure respiratory disease during the 24-hours period, pushing the recovery tally to 262, 022.

Ethiopia confirmed its first Coronavirus case on March 13, last year. Since then, it has identified East Africa’s highest infection number after testing more than 2.92mln people, which is also the highest a country conducted in the sub-region.

According to today’s report, at least 4, 123 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country, pushing the total number of vaccines administered in Ethiopia to 2, 062, 456.

The East African nation started its immunization campaign a week after it obtained 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility. The country also received more than 500, 000 doses of Covid-19 Sinopharm vaccine from China.
