Ethiopia may shut down embassies in Some Countries

ADDIS ABABA – The government of Ethiopia may shut down some its embassies after Prime Minister minister Abiy Ahmed questioned their benefit to the nation.

Ethiopia has more than 60 embassies around the world.

“It is important to revisit if having more than 60 embassies across the globe was beneficial for Ethiopia,” PM Abiy speaking to the parliamentarians on Monday.

“Some embassies should be closed,” he said suggesting the ambassadors should go to their appointed countries as needed.

“In light of our spending and various issues, the next government needs to make fundamental changes,” he added.
