Addis Ababa unveils New Police Uniform, Insignia
ADDIS ABABA – Addis Ababa Police Commission has unveiled new uniform and insignia for its personnel in the capital.
The Uniform was unveiled on Saturday morning in a parade at Addis Ababa Maskel Square.
Senior government officials including Minister of Peace, Muferihat Kamil, and deputy mayor of the capital, Adanech Abiebie, witnessed the parade.
The uniform change is a part of police reform which aims to improve the service of policing in the city, Addis Ababa police commissioner Getu Argaw said.
He said the reform will not be limited to this and go on to transform the quality and coverage policing service in the metropolis.
The Commissioner said the City Police has been effectively discharging it duties and responsibilities in defending the public interests in many aspects.
Over the last three years, the City’s Police in collaboration with federal police and security forces has thwarted various planned terrorist attacks of anti-peace elements that attempted to disrupt peace and development of the capital, according to the Addis Ababa Police.
