Ethiopia Reports 137 New Covid-19 Cases, 4 Deaths
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 137 new novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Saturday, report from the Ministry of Health reveals.
In its Covid-19 report, the Ministry said the new cases were identified after more than 5, 700 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours.
The ministry also confirmed the death of 4 people in the same period due to health complications linked to the Covid-19, taking the national death toll to 4, 280.
Currently, 212 critically ill Covid-19 patients are receiving medical treatment, says the report that put the totoal active cases in the country at 16, 458.
It also says at least 662 patients have recuperated from the respiratory disease, pushing the recovery tally to nearly 254, 296.
The East African nation identified its first coronavirus infection on March 13, last year, and has, so far, conducted about 2.82mln medical tests to confirm 273, 892 cases.
Its health officials have also continued to push forward with their vaccination campaign on Friday albite at smaller rate.
Only 1, 251 people offered Covid-19 vaccine during the 24-hours period, taking the totoal number of vaccines administered in the country to 1, 975, 727.
The vaccination campaign in Ethiopia began on March 13 – a week after it obtained 2.2 million AstraZeneca vaccines from the COVAX Facility.
The country also received 500, 000 doses of COVID19 sinopharm vaccine from the government of China.
