COVID-19: Ethiopia Records Nearly 2, 000 New Cases
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded at least 1, 997 more coronavirus (Covid-19) infections, its ministry of health reported on Saturday.
In its Covid-19 report for the day, the Ministry said nearly 8, 400 people e have been tested for coronavirus in the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases of COVID-19.
A further 21 patients have lost their lives due to Covid-related complications, claims the report. The latest case tally has pushed the death toll in the country so far to 2, 936.
The number of hospitalizations has continued to decrease today by at least 10 as compared to Friday.
The report shows 818patients are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital beds after their condition severely deteriorated.
These patients are among the 49, 147 confirmed active cases registered nationwide.
In the past 24-hours, health officials said 1, 296 patients have recuperated after contracting the virus.
The East African nation confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 213, 311 infections after conducting nearly 2.4mln tests.
