ADDIS ABABA – At least 337 Ethiopians have returned to their country from Riyadh as the government continues to airlift from Saudi Arabia.
A representative of the Consular Affairs Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the returnees at Bole International Airport.
The latest arrival has increased the total number of Ethiopians repatriated from Saudi Arabia this week to 979.
Thousands of Ethiopians cross into Saudi Arabia every year after a journey across the Red Sea or the Gulf of Aden from Somalia or Djibouti and through conflict-torn Yemen, looking for better lives.
Most of them end up in Saudi detention facilities.
