COVID-19: Ethiopia Registers 1, 976 More Cases, 16 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1, 975 more coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and 16 related deaths, Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday.

In its daily report, the Ministry said the country has conducted nearly 8, 300 tests in the past twenty-four hours to identify the new COVID-19 cases across the nation.



Additional 16 patients have passed away due to Coronavirus-related complications nationwide, the ministry confirmed. The number has pushed the national death toll to 2, 841.

Today’s report has also shown the increase in the rate of hospitalizations by about 30 patients as compared to the preceding day.

At least 828 severely ill patients are currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals across the nation,  the report shows. They are among the 45, 0 53 confirmed active cases in the country.

Over the past twenty-four, at least 1, 435 people have recovered from the respiratory illness, bringing the recovery tally to 156, 625.

Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has identified 204, 521 infections after conducting nearly 2.35mln tests.
