ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded 1, 361 more Covid-19 infections and 27 related deaths on Friday, according to Ministry of Health.
Nearly 7, 000 tests have been conducted over the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases.
The ministry said at least 27 people have lost their lives due to COVID-related complications.
The figure has pushed the death toll to 2, 510 in the country where health officials registered the first COVID-19 related death on April 15, last year.
Today’s death figure is one of the highest registered in a day since the start of 2021.

The number of hospitalizations has also jumped by 26 as compared to the preceding day.
About 454 patients are currently receiving medical treatment in hospital beds after they become severely ill. They are among the 28, 864 confirmed active cases, the report shows.
Over the past 24-hours, only 355 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness, bringing the recovery tally to 141, 195.
The East African Nation identified its first coronavirus case on March 13, 2020. Since then, it has confirmed a total of 172, 571 infections after conducting over 2.21mln tests.
