Covid-19: Ethiopia Confirms 935 More Cases, 19 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded at least 935 more Covid-19 infections and 19 deaths on Friday, health officials reported.

At least 6, 659 tests have been conducted in the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases, said the Ministry of Health in its daily covid report.

Additional 19 people have passed away due to covid-19. At least a total of 2, 340 people has so far died since the first COVID-19 related death confirmed in the country on April 15, 2020.

Health officials said about 375 patients are seriously ill and getting medical treatment in various hospitals. These patients are among 20, 144 confirmed active cases in the country.

In the past 24-hours, nearly 1, 000 covid patients have recuperated, pushing the recovery tally in the country to 134, 571.

Health officials confirmed Ethiopia’s first coronavirus case on March 13 last year. Since then, they have registered more than 157, 000 infections after testing more than 2.1mln people.
