COVID-19: Ethiopia Records 716 More Infections, 1, 338 Recoveries

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 716 more COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, pushing the confirmed cases tally to more than 154, 000.

In its daily covid-19 report, the Ministry of Health stated over 5, 500 tests were conducted to identify the new positive cases in the day.

The ministry also reported that at least 12 people have passed away due to the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus. The death toll has now reached to 2, 305 in the country that reported its first on April 5, 2020.

At least 364 patients are currently in hospital beds after getting seriously ill, the ministry said in the report that put the total number of confirmed active cases in the country at 18, 899.

The report has shown a major jump in the number of recovery on Tuesday.

About 1, 338 patients have recovered in the day after contracting the virus, according to the Ministry’s report. To date, more than 133, 000 COVID-19 patients have recovered.

Ethiopia, whose officials confirmed its first case on March 13 last year, has conducted more than 2.1mln tests, so far, and confirmed 154, 257 Covid infections.
