Ethiopia’s Covid-19 Case Count Surpasses 150, 000 Mark

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded additional 871 coronavirus infections on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to more than 150, 000.

Nearly 7000 people have been tested on Thursday, report health officials, to identify the new positive cases.



Additional 12 patients have passed away on the day, pushing the death toll 2, 249, according to the ministry of health’s report.

Like the new infections, the number of hospitalizations continues to increase, as per the report.

It indicates the figure has also increased by 22 within 24-hours. About 348 covid-19 patients are currently receiving medical attention in hospital beds after falling severely ill.

The East African nation currently has 17, 529 confirmed active cases, according to the Ministry of health.

On the same day, the report says the recovery cases for the day have significantly dropped after only 275 patients recuperated from the disease.

The country, which confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13 last year, has tested more than 2mln people and has confirmed 150, 179 infections. Nearly 130, 399 people have recovered after contracting the virus.
