Ethiopia Registers 1, 455 More COVID-19 Cases over the weekend
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered a total of 1, 455 new coronavirus infections over the past forty-eight hours, taking the tally of confirmed cases to more than 142, 000.
At least 13, 240 people have been tested during the period to identify the new positive cases COVID-19, according to the ministry of health.
The ministry has also confirmed the death of a total of 12 patients as a result of COVID-19 in the past two days – Saturday and Sunday.
At least 2, 148 Ethiopians have lost their lives so far due to the virus since the country confirmed the first covid-related death on April 15, last year.
At least 208 patients are currently receiving treatment in hospital after becoming seriously ill, according to health officials. They are among the 14, 569 confirmed active cases in the country.
The ministry reported a total of 378 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus in the past 48-hours.
To date, Ethiopia has conducted over 2mln tests and confirmed 142, 338 covid cases. Over 125, 619, of these patients have recovered.
