Revenue Ministry Collects over 149bln Birr in six-month
ADDIS ABEBA – Ministry of Revenues said on Monday it has collected 149.2 billion Birr in the first half of the current Ethiopian fiscal year.
The figure has surpassed the target the Ministry put for the period, 146.9 billion Birr, by more than 3bln birr.
In a statement issued on Monday, Minister of Revenues Laqe Ayalew revealed that the amount has also shown a 17 percent when compared to same period last fiscal year.
Out of the total revenue, 93.34 billion Birr was collected from domestic revenue, 55.75 billion birr from export taxes and 130.02 million birr from lottery net income, according to the Ministry.
The Minister said the performance is very laudable in light of the current challenges including Covid in the country while attributing the success to the fact that most taxpayers paid their taxes on time.
The Minister also commended the diligent commitment of the Ministry of Revenues, Customs Commission and the National Lottery workers in providing strong support and monitoring, as well as the relentless cooperation of partners.
