Ethiopia Records 13 Covid-related Deaths

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has recorded the highest covid-related deaths since Jan 1 after 13 people lost their lives to the virus on Tuesday.

The latest figure on the day has pushed the number of deaths due to Covid-19, a respiratory illness caused by coronavirus, to 1, 963, according to the Ministry of Health.

The country confirmed its first COVID-19 related death on April 15.



In its daily covid-19 report, the ministry also said the country has registered 322 more infections on the day, bringing the confirmed case tally to over 126, 000.

Nearly 4, 000 people have been tested to identify the new positive cases, according to the report.

The country has recorded less recovery than new cases on the day. A little over 200 patients have recuperated from the disease, shows the report.

The East African nation currently has 11, 463 confirmed active cases. Health officials also said about 245 of them are hospitalized after falling severely ill.

To date, the country has tested more than 1.82mln people since the first coronavirus case confirmed on March 13, and identified 126, 241 infections. Nearly 112, 813 patients have recuperated after contracting the virus.
