Ethiopia reports 602 new coronavirus cases, 12 deaths

ADDIS ABABA- Ethiopia reported 602 more coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the national tally to more than 67, 000, a data from Ministry of health claims.

The ministry reported the new positive cases after the country tested a total of 8, 221 individuals for the coronavirus over the past twenty-four hours.

Officials also said 12 additional COVID-19 patients died in that day, pushing the official death toll to 1, 072.

There are now more than 38, 800 active cases. Of these, 289 patients are in severe conditions, according to a report from the Ministry of Health .

On the day, the ministry also reported the recovery of 553 patients of COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus. The figure has taken the number of recoveries in the nation so far to 27, 638.

To date the East African nation has tested 1.18mln people and confirmed 67, 515 infections.
