Ethiopia Confirms 1, 019 Covid-19 New Infections, 11 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 1, 019 new Covid-19 cases and 11 related deaths on Sunday, Ministry of Health reported.

More than 5, 550 tests have been conducted over the past twenty-four hours to identify the positive cases of Covid-19 – a respiratory disease caused by Coronavirus.

The Ministry said 11 more 14 people have died on the day due to covid-19. The latest figure has pushed the death toll in the country to 2, 365.

The number of hospitalizations has decreased by a dozen as compared to the preceding day. The ministry’s daily report shows 365 severely ill patients are under treatment in hospital beds. They are among 21, 847 confirmed active cases in the country.

Only 122 people have recovered after contacting the virus, pushing the recovery tally to 134, 858.

To date, the East African nation, which confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13, last year, has tested more than 2mln people and identified 159, 072 infections.
