COVID-19: Ethiopia Reports 2 Covid-related Deaths, 287 New Cases

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has recorded 297 new COVID-19 cases on Monday as the total number of confirmed cases nears 126, 000 in the country.

The ministry of health said the new positive cases have been identified out of 4,157 COVID-19 medical tests that were conducted in the east African country.



In its covid report for monday, the ministry confirmed two more COVID-related deaths on the day, taking the death to 1,950.

The ministry said that some 112,610 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 had recovered so far, including 243 in the last 24-hour period.

The country has 11,357 confirmed active cases. Of these, health officials said 262 of the patients are in severe conditions.

To date, Ethiopia has conducted over 1.82mln tests and confirmed 125,919 infections. The country now has the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the east African region and the fifth-most in the continent, following South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt.
