Federal Police Investigate 15 TPLF Military Officers

ADDIS ABEBA – The Federal Police Commission of Ethiopia announced that they are investigating 15 members of the leadership and military officers of the former ruling party of Tigray region that are under arrest.

Major General Geberemedhin Fikadu Hailu, Major General Yidaw G/medhin, Brigadier General Geberehiwot Sisinyos Gebru and Brigadier General Insu Ajajo Arasho are among the 15 military officers currently under police’s custody.

“The search for the criminal clique’s leaders who are constantly changing their identities and are moving from place to place continues,” it said in a statement that revealed their names.

Colonel Tesfaye G/Medhin, Colonel Yemane G/Michael, Lieutenant Colonel Hadush G/Tsadik, Colonel Ma’eisho, and Colonel Alem G/medhin are said to have been killed during the military operation.

The federal government launched what it described as a law enforcement operation against the TPLF, whose forces stormed the Northern Command of the Ethiopian Defense Forces, looted military hardware and killed soldiers in the early hours of Nov. 4.

On Nov. 28, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed declared the military operation over after the fall of the regional capital, Mekelle city, to the Ethiopian army.

Tigray region is now being governed by an interim administration.
