Ethiopia Reports 573 More Covid cases, 4 Deaths

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has recorded 573 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to more than 25, 000, according to the Ministry of Health.

At least 6, 387 tests have been conducted over the past twenty hours to identify the latest positive cases, the ministry said In its daily  covid report.



The report claims four people died due to the virus in the day, pushing the death toll to 1, 948. Health officials reported the first two covid-related deaths on April 5, 2020.

The country currently has 11, 305 confirmed active cases. At least 239 of them have been hospitalized after falling severely ill, the report indicates.

It also shows only 42 patients have recuperated from the deadly respiratory disease caused by coronavirus over the past 24-hours. This figure has taken the number of people that recovered after contracting the virus to 112, 367.

The East African Nation confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13. To date, it has tested more than 1.8mln people and confirmed 125, 622 infections.
