Ethiopia Reports 475 More Coronavirus cases, 13 Deaths

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia recorded 13 deaths from Covid-19 on Thursday, the highest number of deaths the country recorded in a single day since November 27.

The latest figure pushes the death toll due to covid to 1, 831 since health officials reported the first one on April 5, 2020.



On the same day, the Ministry of Health reported 475 new coronavirus cases, after conducting a total of 5, 275 tests for coronavirus, which causes the deadly respiratory disease.

Overall, the country’s number of confirmed active cases has continued to shrink with the tally is now reaching 16, 897. This is due to the increase in the recovery rate.

A report from the ministry indicates at least 1, 782 patients have recovered from Covid-19 on Thursday. Nearly 100, 000 people have so far recuperated after contracting the virus.

The same report, however, shows at least 273 patients have been hospitalized after falling severely ill.

The East African Nation confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13. To date, it has conducted more than 1.72mln tests and identified 118, 481 infections.
