Ethiopia Reports 1097 New Covid-19 Cases, 1807 Recovieries over the Weekend

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has registered a total of 1097 more infections of Coronavirus over the past two days, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to more than 109, 000, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

About 10, 872 tests have been conducted over the past 48-hours to identify the new patients of Covid-19, a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.

Additional 14 people have passed away due to the virus over the weekend, pushing the death toll to 1, 700.

At least 322 patients have been hospitalized after falling critically ill, according to the ministry’s daily report on Sunday. They are among the 38, 517 confirmed active cases in the country.

The ministry also said 1, 807 patients have recuperated in the past two days, bringing the number recoveries to more than 69, 300.

Since the first coronavirus case confirmed on March 13, the East African nation has tested more than 1.63mln people, and identified 109, 534 infections.
