COVID-19: Ethiopia’ Recovery Case Tops 60, 000

ADDIS ABEBA – At least 944 patients of COVID-19 have recuperated on Monday, pushing the total number of people recovered from the disease to exceed 60, 000 mark, according to the Ministry of Health.

To date,  60, 710 patients have recuperated from Covid-19 – a deadly respiratory illness caused by coronavirus.

On the same day, the nation has also confirmed 307 more COVID-19 infections.

The country tested nearly 4000 individuals in a twenty-four hours period to identify the new positive cases, the ministry said in its daily Covid-19 report.

The same report also shows aditional 7 people have lost their lives due the virus, pushing the death toll to 1, 530.

The East African nation currently has over 37, 700 active cases. Of these, 290 patients are severely ill and are getting treatment in Covid-19 medical centers.

Ethiopia confirmed its first coronavirus case on March 13. Since then, it has registered 99, 982 infections of the virus after conducting over 1.53million laboratory tests.
