Ethiopia’s COVID-19 Cases Count Nears 100, 000
ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has registered 929 new coronavirus infections over the weekend, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to nearly 100, 000, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
Health officials identified the new positive cases after conducting 11, 342 tests over the past two days.
Additional 11 more people have passed away as result of Covid-19, a respiratory illness caused by coronavirus, on Saturday and Sunday, taking the death toll to 1, 523.
At least 316 people are currently severely ill and are getting medical attention inside Covid medical centers. These patients are among 38, 384 active cases that the country has, according to the Ministry of Health report issued on Sunday.
Over the past two days, 1, 673 more patients have recovered from the deadly respiratory disease, indicates the report.
To date, nearly 60, 000 patients have recovered from the disease after contracting the virus, according to the Ministry.
The East African nation confirmed its first case of COVID-19 on March 13. Since then, health officials have tested over 1.52 million people for the virus and confirmed 99, 675 cases.
