ADDIS ABABA – Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki is in Ethiopia for a three-day official visit starting from Monday.
The start of his visit was announced by Eritrea’s information minister earlier today when the president left Asmera to Jimma city of Ethiopia.
“On the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, President Isaias Afwerki departed to Ethiopia this morning for a three-day working visit,” said Information minister Yemane.
Isaias’s delegation includes his Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Adviser Yemane Ghebreab.
Abiy received Isaias and his delegation when they began their official visit to Ethiopia in Jimma airport.
“I welcome my brother President Isaias Afwerki to Ethiopia for a three day working visit set to further enhance our bilateral ties,” PM Abiy announced minutes after the delegation’s arrival.
On Monday, the two heads of states visited Goma Woreda in Jimma where hybrid coffee seedlings are being produced in cluster farming approach and showing great productivity, according to the PM office.
Abiy and Isaias are expected to hold “extensive consultations on further enhancement of bilateral ties as well as the consolidation of regional cooperation”, according to Asmara.
Prime Minister Abiy made a similar working visit to Eritrea last August.
