ADDIS ABABA – Some 959 more positive cases of COVID-19 were registered in Ethiopia on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Health.
The new cases have been identified after 8, 101 tests were conducted over the past twenty-four hours.
The Ministry also reported 8 more COVID-19 patients passed away during the period, taking the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 1, 222.
The current confirmed active cases in the country has reached more than 44, 500. Of these patients, 285 are seriously sick and are receiving medical care in COVID-19 treatment centers, reported health officials.
During the period, up to 735 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the respiratory disease, bringing the tally of recoveries to more than 33, 000.
The East African nation has tested over 1.3mln people for coronavirus since the first case confirmed on March 13, and identified 78, 816 infections.
