ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 872 additional coronavirus infections on Saturday, bringing the tally of confirmed cases to more than 77, 800, according to the Ministry of Health daily report.
The East African nation tested at least 7, 726 people for the virus in the past twenty-four hours to identify the positive cases.
A further 6 people have died during the period, said the ministry, pushing the total death reported in Ethiopia so far to 1, 214.
The report also noted that 648 coronavirus patients have regained their health from COVID-19.
The number of patients who tested negative today has been registered as the highest since Sept 16 and increased the recovery tally to 32, 325.
Health officials said there are still 44, 319 active cases in the country. Of these, 278 patients are in severe ill, according to today’s report.
To date, the country has tested nearly 1.3 million people for the coronavirus and confirmed 77, 860 infections – both the test and infection numbers are the highest in East Africa.
