Ethiopia Records 485 New COVID-19 Infections

ADDIS ABABA – A total of 485 new positive cases were registered in Ethiopia on Monday, the Ministry of Health said.

The new cases, identified from over 9, 000 tests conducted over the past twenty-four hours, take the cumulative total number of cases to 64, 786.

The Ministry of Health also said nine new deaths had been reported, taking the tally since the start of the pandemic to 1, 022.

Currently, there are 38, 429 active cases and, of these, 344 are severely ill, reported the ministry.

Health officials also noted 350 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the respiratory disease, taking the total figure to 25, 333.

The East African nation has tested 1.14mln people for coronavirus since the first case confirmed on March 13, and identified nearly 65, 000 infections so far.
