Ethiopia’s COVID-19 Death Toll Exceeds 1000 Mark

ADDIS ABABA – The total number of COVID-19 deaths in Ethiopia has surpassed 1000 mark on Sunday, according to a data from Ministry of Health.

In its COVID-19 daily report, the ministry revealed the death additional 17 patients due to the virus over the past twenty-four hours. The latest figure takes the death toll to 1013.



Health officials also said the country conducted 7, 162 tests during the period and identified 413 new cases of COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.

There are now over 38, 300 active cases in the country, and 342 of them are severely ill, according to government figures.

The Ministry also said 490 patients have recuperated from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries 24, 983.

To date, Ethiopia has conducted 1.138 million tests, the third-highest number of tests to be carried out among African nations, and confirmed 64, 301 infections.
