Ethiopia Reports 585 New Covid-19 Cases, 6 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has registered 585 more novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections on Saturday, bringing the national confirmed cases tally to more than 283, 600.

In its daily report, the ministry of health said the new cases have been identified from 7, 302 tests conducted in the past twenty-four hours.



Today’s report also reveals the death of 6 patients due to the acute respiratory disease.

A total of 4,421 Ethiopian have lost their lives to the virus since the country registered its first Covid-19 death on April 15, 2020.

Ethiopia currently has 14, 932 active Covid-19 cases, of whom 275 patients are in severe health condition, the report shows.

It also says 87 patients have recuperated from the disease in the day, taking the recovery count to more than 264, 312.

Ethiopia, which registered its first Coronavirus infection on March 13, last year, has conducted more than 3.06mln tests to confirm the 283, 667 cases.

On Saturday, the ministry, which has been carrying out a nationwide immunization campaign since March 13, has not reported the provision of Covid-19 vaccine.

As of Friday evening, nearly 2.27mln Covid vaccine doses have been offered to the public.
