Netherlands Becomes Top Destination for Ethiopian Export
ADDIS ABABA – Netherlands has become Ethiopia’s top destination for Ethiopia’s export products during the 2019/20 fiscal year, ministry of trade said on Tuesday.
Ethiopia exported over 322 million US dollar worth of commodities to the Netherlands during the period, according to the ministry.
Flower, coffee, fruits and vegetables, juice, apparel, shoes, leather, Honey, Khatt, alcoholic beverages, electronics, bee wax, and cereals were among the commodities exported to the European nation.
The Netherlands is also a top investor from European nations with over 150 investments in Ethiopia.
The second major destination for Ethiopian export products is the United States.
The East African nation exported apparel, coffee, Flower Leather products, flour, chemical and construction materials, minerals such as gold, oilseeds, and alcoholic beverage worth of 295 million US dollars.
During the period, Over 298.2 million US dollar worth of commodities were also exported to neighboring Somalia, becoming the third-largest importer of Ethiopian products, followed by Saudi Arabia and Germany, the statement added.
