COVID-19: Ethiopia Registers 1, 638 New Cases, 16 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 1, 638 cases of the new coronavirus on Sunday, bringing the tally to 40, 671, Ministry of health said.

The east African nation tested upto 20, 153 people over the past twenty-four hours to identify the new positive cases.

The country also added 16 new deaths on the day, according to data from the ministry of health. The COVID-19 death toll remained at 678.

There are now 24, 996 active cases in the country. Of these, the ministry said 291 patients are in severe condition.

During the reported period, at least 515 patients of COVID-19, a deadly disease caused by coronavirus, have recovered. To date, 14, 994 patients recovered from the disease.

Ethiopia has tested a total of over 757, 000 people since health officials confirmed the first case in mid March.
