Ethiopia Reports 1086 New COVID-19 Cases, 16 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported 1086 new cases of coronavirus infections on Thursday, talking the total number of confirmed cases to more than 26, 200.

The country tested 14, 688 individuals for the virus in the past twenty-four hours to identify additional 1083 cases – the highest daily increase recorded in the country so far.

The ministry of health also said 16 more people have died during the reported period due to COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by coronavirus. To date, 479 people have lost their lives to the virus in Ethiopia.

The number of patients in critical condition have also jumped from 178 on Wednesday to 193 today, according to the Ministry’s daily report, which also indicates that there are 14, 295 active cases in Ethiopia.

Health officials also reported today at least 394 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 11, 428.

To date, the East African nation has tested 550, 119 people for coronavirus and confirmed 26, 004 cases.
