Ethiopia Records 943 New COVID-19 Cases, 23 Deaths

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported a record daily increase in coronavirus infections as the country registers 943 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

A data from the government’s health ministry shows at least 14, 540 individuals have been tested for the virus in the past twenty-four hours.

Testes conducted during the reported period is a daily high so far, and has pushed the total number of confirmed cases to exceed 25, 000 mark.

The East African nation also added 23 new deaths related to COVID-19, a respiratory illness caused by the deadly coronavirus. The latest fatality rate has taken the death toll to 463.

There are now 178 patients that are in severe conditions, according to Wednesday’s Health officials’ report  which puts that the number of active cases at 13, 619.

The report also says some 338 patients of COVID-19 have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 11, 034.

To date, Ethiopia has tested 535, 431 people and confirmed 25, 118 cases.
