Ethiopia Reports 131 More COVID-19 Cases; 84 Recoveries

ADDIS ABEBA – Ethiopia has reported 131 additional coronavirus infections on Monday, taking the tally to 4, 663.

Ministry of Health, after conducting tests on 3238 individuals in the past twenty-four hours, identified 94 male and 37 female positive cases.



The ministry’s report described them all except on patients as Ethiopian nationals with their age ranging from 2 to 80 years.

The majority of these cases reported from Addis Ababa where authorities identified 98 cases.

Oromia and Somali regional states have also reported 16 and 4 cases, respectively, while Afar, Dire Dawa, SNNP region and Gambella region reported 3 cases each. The remaining two patients are from Tigray and Amhara regions.

Meanwhile, health officials reported that 84 patients of COVID-19 have recuperated from the disease.

Addis Ababa city (79) as well as Oromia (2), Tigray and SNNP regional states reported the latest recovery cases.

To date, 1297 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus.

Despite a spike in recoveries, both the number of active cases and patients has increased as compared to Sunday.

There are 3, 289 active COVID-19 cases in the country. Of these, 38 patients are in severe condition.

Their number has increased by two as compared to yesterday’s report.

Today, the Ministry of Health also reported an 80-year-old male had died in the past 24 hours, bringing the official death toll to 75.
