Number of Ethiopia’s COVID-19 Cases Reaches 135
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has reported two more COVID-19 cases today, taking the tally of confirmed cases to 135.
The country tested 1550 people within twenty-four hours, the ministry of health said, adding that “two of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19”.
Both cases – a 49 male resident of Ziway town and 45 years old female resident of Siliti woreda – have no travel history.
Health officials have found the patient in Ziway town after a random laboratory test among admitted patients, according to the ministry. The second patent identified during a house to house surveillance, it added.
The two cases are the only two people confirmed as positive over the past 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the ministry has reported six more recovery cases today as well. “Six people from Dire Dawa recovered from the disease that makes the total number of recoveries to 75,” said the ministry.
The latest report indicates that the number of recovered cases has surpassed the number of active patients. Fifty-five patients of COVID-19 cases are currently in treatment centers.
