CANAL+, EBC Agree Distribution Deal
ADDIS ABABA – French television channel, CANAL+, said it has signed a distribution deal with Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), Ethiopian public service broadcaster.
The French pay-television broadcaster has a plan to start broadcasting service in Ethiopia this year.
The latest agreement with EBC allows CANAL+ to distribute EBC’s services in its future Ethiopian pay TV offer.
The services include ETV NEWS, the first Ethiopian news channel, ETV Entertainment, an entertainment channel with musical, talks-shows, comedy programs and Ethiopian TV series and ETV LANGUAGES, a generalist channel with multi-language programs.
The agreement also allows CANAL+ to distribute services of ETHIOPIAN RADIO, FM ADDIS 97.1 et and FM 104.7.
“Through this agreement, CANAL+ aims to aggregate the best Ethiopian channels and radios in its future PAY TV offer,” the French Pay TV said in a statement sent to The Monitor.
Recently, CANAL+ signed another partnership agreement with Nolawi Film Production/the Ethiopian Film Producers Association.
These, CANAL+ said the statement, confirms “its willingness to bring together the best Ethiopian content and channels to its future subscribers”.
