Ethiopia’s Coffee Export Generates $1.45 Billion in Annual revenue

Ethiopia’s coffee industry has generated 1.43 billion US dollars in annual export revenue, showing a 7.5 percent year-on-year increase, the sector’s regulator announced today.

The annual performance was boosted by a record high coffee shipped to the international market in the last month of Ethiopian 2023/24 fiscal year that ended on Sunday.

In a statement today, Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority disclosed that the country exported 46,000 tons of coffee in June 2024, achieving 108% of its target for the month.

“This marked a significant milestone for the sector, achieving a record high volume ever generating $218 million (107%),” sector regulator said.

The export has brought the annual volume of coffee shipped to the global market to 298,500 tons, resulting in 1.43 billion US dollars revenue for the fiscal year 2023/24.

“Compared to the previous year, the volume has increased by 20% and the value has risen by 7.5%,” the Authority stated.
