ECX Traded Over 30bln Birr Commodities In Nine Months

ADDIS ABEBA – Over 602, 823 tons of commodities have been traded in the Ethiopia Commodity Exchange (ECX) trading platform in the past nine months, said the Exchange today.

The commodity said the sum of the commodities that are worth 30.4bln birr shows that it has achieved 97% of its target for the period.



Coffee took the majority of stake in the volume of commodities sold at the exchange during the period with its share reaching 231, 885 tons.

The remaining are 211,777 tons of sesame; 69,760 tons of soya beans; 46, 914 tons of green mung beans; and 39, 286 white pea beans, the ECX noted.

The trade volume has surpassed the performance of the same period of last year by 100,000 tons or by 20%.
The trade value has also shown a 21% increase, according to the ECX.
