Ethiopian Airlines Transports over 95mln Stems of flowers for Valentine’s Season

ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian Airlines said it has transported more than 95 million stems of flowers for Valentine’s Day season from Ethiopia and Kenya to other destinations.

“Ethiopian shipped 1,600 tons from Nairobi and 3,000 tons from Addis Ababa,” the airlines said.

It said the destination for the cut flowers were Belgium, Cote d’Ivoire, Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United States, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and many other.

Kenya allowed Ethiopian airlines to deploy additional freighters in its Nairobi-Amsterdam and transport flowers after its farmers expressed their concern regarding Kenyan airways limited capacity.
