New Ethiopian Ambassador to UN Presents Credential Secretary-General Guterres

Ethiopia’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Tesfaye Yilma, presented his credentials to Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday.

“Ambassador Tesfaye takes the helm at the Mission,” the permanent mission of Ethiopia at the UN said after the envoy handed over his credentials.

The former state minister of Foreign Affairs becomes the 17th Ambassador of Ethiopia to the UN since its founding.

He replaced Taye Atske Selassie who finished his tenure as Ambassador of Ethiopia to the United Nations in January.

Weeks later, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed named Taye as the political policy advisor minister.
