Addis to Host All-African Leather Fair Next Month

The All-African Leather Fair (AALF), which aims to promote the continent’s leather industry to the world, will be held in Addis Ababa next month in mid-February.

The Ethiopian Leather Industries Association (ELIA) organized the three-day event at Millennium Hall, beginning Feb 16, 2023. EKIA previously hosted the first edition of the AALF in 2018.

The Fair will bring together tanners, footwear, and other leather goods manufacturers, in addition to equipment and technology suppliers, chemical inputs suppliers, and more from all over the world.

African companies and organizations are expected to constitute the largest participants in the trade Fair which aims to create global market opportunities for Africa’s upstream leather goods.

The leather sector in Ethiopia and Africa at large has been heavily affected by the recent global market situation and the pandemic impact.

The AALF trade fair aims at motivating the sector in market expansion, facilitating inter-African business relations, investment attraction, and technology transfer, the organizer of AALF says.

This year, panel discussions, a fashion show, a fashion zone, and a leather talent show are also scheduled as part of the trade fair.
