Council of Ministers Sees off four Members

ADDIS ABABA  – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s Cabinet has seen off four members with honor, the PM office said Saturday.

The four outgoing officials include Minister of Mines and Petroleum Takele Uma; and Minister of Transport and Logistics Dagmawit Moges.

The other two are Minister of Agriculture Oumer Hussien, and chief of the Prime Minister’s office and Minister of Cabinet Affairs Teferi Fikre.

After Saturday’s sending-off, the ministers expressed their appreciation for the opportunity given to them to serve their country.

In a tweet, Ambassador Oumer thanked those who supported him during his term as Agriculture Minister.

“I sincerely thank all those who have been by my side in the efforts made to improve the sector and for the opportunity given to me to serve my country and people. “In the future, I will do my best to serve where I am assigned. Thank you all for the honor!!”

Oumer and Teferi have already been appointed as ambassadors by President Sahleww-work Zewde last week.

But the fate of Takele and Dagmawit is not yet clear. Both, however, expressed their honor of serving their country in messages posted on Twitter.

“It is a privilege & profound honor to serve Ethiopia,” Takele wrote. “Resilience & strength are embedded in our DNA, so there is no doubt we will continue to overcome.”

“Thank you all for your relentless support, encouragement & advice throughout the years. My brother Abiy Ahmed,” the former deputy mayor of Addis Ababa added.

Dagmawit too said she was “incredibly honored” that she served her country.

“It has been the most incredible honor of my life to serve my beloved country Ethiopia & my people. Each day of being of service to my people has been a pure honor, joy & privilege,” she said. “No words can express my gratitude for serving as the Minister of Transport & Logistics of Ethiopia.!”
