Fed Govt, TPLF Commanders Review Peace Deal Implementation

ADDIS ABABA – Senior Commanders of the Federal government of Ethiopia and the TPLF held their second meeting in Nairobi to follow up on the implementation of the Permanent Cessation of Hostilities Agreement (COHA).

The commanders were convened by the African Union which brokered the agreement ending the conflict in northern Ethiopia.

The Union said the two parties finalized the Term of Reference (ToR) of the Joint Monitoring, Verification, and Compliance Mechanism (JMVCM).

They also discussed the implementation of the Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration (DDR) process.

The AUC has commended “the Parties for the positive confidence-building measures since the signing of the COHA and encourages them to continue with their efforts to restore peace, security, and stability in Ethiopia.”

The Government of Kenya was also appreciated by the AUC for hosting the Senior Commanders’ meeting. It was “a demonstration of African solidarity,” the AUC notes.
