COVID-19: Ethiopia Registers 869 New cases over the weekend

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia has recorded a total of 869 more COVID-19 infections over the weekend, bringing the confirmed cases tally in the country to more than 131, 000.

The country conducted nearly 10, 899 COVID-19 medical tests over the past forty-eight hours to identify the new positive cases, ministry of health reported.

The ministry has also confirmed the death of seven COVID-19 patients in the two-day period, taking the death to 2, 030.

At least 225 patients are currently in hospital after becoming seriously ill, according to health officials. They are among the 13, 016 confirmed active cases in the country.

A total of 719 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus 0ver the past 48-hours.

To date, Ethiopia has conducted nearly 1.9mln tests and confirmed 131, 195 covid cases. Over 116, 000 of these patients have recovered.
