ADDIS ABABA – Ethio Telecom has blamed Safaricom Ethiopia for the telecom service disruption in Semera city of Afar region on Sunday.
The service in the city has been interrupted for 12 hours on December 11, 2022.
In a statement today, Ethio telecom stated that the interruption occurred due to an ongoing network expansion by Safaricom Ethiopia.
The construction project, it said, “caused extensive damages to our networks” in the region and an international communication line passing through Djibouti.
“The service has been restored after the collaborative efforts of our field workers,” Ethio Telecom said.
The telco also said it will take legal actions against “those responsible” for both the damages occurred on the infrastructure and losses incurred due to the service interruption.
Safaricom Telecommunication plc has not responded to the accusations.
