University Exit Exam Set for June

ADDIS ABABA – The first exit tests for undergraduate students of Ethiopian universities will be administered in June, the Ministry of Education announced on Friday.

The ministry decided to roll out the exit exam for all undergrad students of private and public higher institutes at the end of the current Ethiopian academic year. The exam is a part of the sector reform effort that aims to elevate the education quality at universities and colleges.

Accordingly, more than 200,000 this year’s first-degree candidates are expected to sit for the exit test.

On Friday, officials of the education sector held a consultative meeting to assess the exit exam and identify courses that the exit test involves with representatives of higher institutions in Ethiopia.

CEO of academic affairs at the Ministry, Ebba Mijena (Ph.D.) told the meeting that the exam will be given at the same time in June.

The Ministry of Education chose to administer the exam online to make sure its integrity.

Earlier this month, authorities advised both public and private colleges to prepare themselves with the necessary infrastructure required to administer the exit exam online.
