Ministry to Introduce Exit Exam for All Undergraduate Programs
ADDIS ABABA – Ministry of Education is set to introduce an exit examination for all undergraduate programs in the universities of Ethiopia.
The exam, scheduled to begin next year, aims to improve the quality of graduates being churned out by both public and private universities.
The announcement was made during a discussion between top officials of the ministry and presidents of higher institutions on a draft structural reform for Public Universities.
Education Minister Birhanu Nega (Prof) said the exit exam will be given to all undergraduate programs to improve the quality of higher education.
He said the exams will be introduced starting next academic year.
The move is sa part of the structural reform that envisions creating an enabling environment for universities to carry out their mission efficiently and effectively and become a source of knowledge, research, and innovation, according to the Ministry of Education.
The country reportedly produces over 150,000 graduates every year.
