Ethiopia’s Covid Daily Tally Drops to Single Digit

ADDIS ABABA – The daily Covid-19 tally in Ethiopia has dropped to a single-digit as eight persons tested positive for Coronavirus on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Health’s report.

The latest cases, identified during the coronavirus tests carried out in the last twenty-four hours, have taken the confirmed total to 492, 968.

Similarly, only eight patients were able to recuperate from the respiratory disease in the same period, bringing the recovery count to 471,285.

The tallies of both active and severe cases stay the same as the previous day.

Currently, there are 14, 102 confirmed active cases in Ethiopia. At least fourteen of them are severely ill and are receiving medical treatment in the hospital.

The country has not recorded a fatality related to Covid-19 disease today. Its ministry of health last reported Covid-related fatalities a week ago on August 14, 2022.

The disease has, however, claimed the lives of at least 7,571 Ethiopians since the first Covid-related death was confirmed in Ethiopia on April 5, 2020.

Health officials are still urging the public to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves from the communicable respiratory disease amid a recent slowdown in the nation’s covid vaccine drive v.

Ethiopia started its Covid-19 vaccination campaign in March last year. It has since administered nearly 52.6 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. More than 43.13 million people have also received at least two shots of the vaccine.
